Overview
Geoforce GT1c: technical overview
Geoforce has launched the GT1c, a cellular asset tracker purpose-built for non-powered industrial equipment. It runs on AT\&T's LTE-M (CAT-M1) network with NB-IoT (CAT-NB1/NB2) support for international markets, and is available in both intrinsically safe and non-intrinsically safe configurations.
Hardware
The base unit measures 2.8" x 2.8" x 1.26" and weighs 0.44 lbs. An optional reinforced plastic mounting bezel extends the footprint to 4.47" x 3.16" x 1.32" and adds 0.164 lbs. Construction is fully encapsulated with IP68 (immersion to 160ft) and IP69K protection. The device identifies via 2D barcode ESN and Bluetooth beacon ID for mobile field tools. Configuration is available remotely over cellular or locally via Bluetooth using Geoforce's mobile app.
Environmental ratings
The GT1c meets MIL-STD-810G across vibration (514.7, 7.5 Grms, 5Hz–2000Hz), mechanical shock (516.7, 300Gpk), immersion (512.5, 160ft), and salt fog (509.5, 1,000 hours). Acidic atmosphere resistance is per ASTM D543-95 / MIL-STD-810G 518.2. Operating temperature range is -40°F to 185°F (-40°C to 85°C). Reliability qualification follows IPC9592a.
Intrinsic safety certifications
Zone 0 / Class I Division 1 is the most stringent hazardous location classification, certifying safe operation in continuously explosive atmospheres. The GT1c holds:

Battery life
Battery longevity is a function of transmit frequency. At one transmit per day, the GT1c delivers up to 10 years of service life. At 24 transmits per day, that floor drops to approximately 3 years. The device supports interval, scheduled, and motion-based reporting modes, giving operators direct control over the tradeoff between location granularity and battery life. LTE-M was selected over standard LTE specifically for its power efficiency in low-data IoT applications.
Reporting and connectivity
Two-way cellular communication supports remote device access, configuration changes, and critical alerts without requiring field retrieval. Indoor proximity tracking extends visibility when assets move inside structures where GPS signal is unavailable — a meaningful capability for yard management and warehouse environments.
Target asset classes
Containers, ISO containers, trailers, tanks, chemical totes, waste bins, industrial equipment, and comparable non-powered assets across oil and gas, construction, equipment rental, waste management, manufacturing, and military/defense verticals.
Platform integration
The GT1c feeds location and utilization data into Geoforce's asset intelligence platform, joining the existing GT-series satellite device lineup. The AT\&T partnership provides carrier-backed IoT connectivity, with AT\&T's network purpose-configured for industrial IoT scale and reliability.
